Happy National PT Month 2018- 5 Reasons You Need Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy Month 2018

When you think about October, you likely think of kids leaping into piles of crunchy, dried leaves, a freshly carved jack-o-lantern on your front porch, and maybe a spooky meme or two. But here at Restorative Physical Therapy we're thinking about Physical Therapy (to be fair, we're pretty much always thinking about Physical Therapy).

This year for PT Month we are counting down the reasons why You Need Physical Therapy. We believe that there isn't anyone that couldn't benefit from a visit with our Physical Therapists. From maintaining your overall wellness, to recovering from a major surgery, or even just helping with chronic pain from an on-going illness, we believe everyone can get some benefit from Integrative Manual Therapy at Restorative Physical Therapy.

#5 Reaching Your Overall Health Goals

Physical therapy can help those that have had trouble with mobility or are looking to improve strength and overall health. Our Physical Therapists are able to tailor programs to each patient’s ability in order to improve confidence and independence, while reducing the risk of future injury.

#4 Prevent Sports Injuries

Physical Therapists work with athletes on many levels to prevent injury while promoting improved performance. By evaluating body movements, muscle strength, and integrative diagnostics (which is a unique technique used at Restorative Physical Therapy), physical therapists can tailor programs not only to a specific sport, but to the individual athlete. Injury recovery programs are also available.

#3 Have Fallen More than Once in the Last Year

According to the CDC, falls are the leading cause of death and injury for Americans over 65. Fall prevention programs offered by Physical Therapists are designed to increase independence with functional activities, functional mobility, and safety awareness while decreasing fall risk.

#2 Prevent Surgery

Physical Therapy works to reduce pain and heal injuries. In fact, it works so well that in many cases it has been proven to reduce or even remove the need for surgery. In the event that surgery is needed, pre-op treatment with a Physical Therapist can help make recovery easier and safer.

#1 YOU ARE IN PAIN

If you are experiencing pain, Physical Therapy can help you treat the cause and not just the symptoms of your pain. Our Physical Therapists work one-on-one with patients to achieve long-term solutions without the use of expensive prescriptions or tests, saving them both time and money.
